As tempting as it can be to treat your dog to the same food you are eating, not all human foods are safe for dogs (ask one of our behaviourists why it might not be best for their behaviour either!). It’s important to keep these foods away from dogs, both when on your plate and wherever you may store them in the house. It can only take an eager Labrador a second to reach your kitchen counter and grab that bunch of grapes.
Here is a list of the most common foods found in your home that your dog should be kept away from. This is not a complete list, but it highlights the most common food stuffs found in the home.
If your dog ingests any of these, PLEASE call your vet immediately to get advice on what’s best to do for the particular food they have eaten. Each food has a different level of consumption that will be fatal to your dog, but our advice is if your dog ingests any amount of any of these you should call the vet straight away.
